Organization History

Foundation for Culture and Environment Southeast Asia was officially registered in accordance with the Civil and Commercial Code on January 14, 2010. Its operations focus on training and capacity-building for individuals in the field of cultural and environmental conservation within the Mekong River region. This emphasis arises from the significant impact that past development projects have had on local communities’ ways of life, as well as the widespread environmental problems they have caused. The foundation aims to foster understanding and preparedness for dealing with such impacts through environmental, social, and economic impact assessments conducted by trained youth leaders who have participated in its programs. These efforts lead to the exchange of knowledge on development practices and encourage the integration of human rights principles in the management and implementation of development projects that affect natural resources and the environment as a whole.

The foundation’s objectives are to provide training in environmental conservation and the preservation of indigenous wisdom, culture, and traditions in Southeast Asia. It also aims to promote the formation of networks and knowledge exchange on environmental conservation through the application of traditional wisdom, culture, and customs to mitigate global warming. Additionally, the foundation supports the production of media that advocate for environmental conservation and the safeguarding of cultural heritage and traditional knowledge.
